9 Famous Celebrities Who Live in Denver, Colorado

1. Tim Allen

Tim Allen is a famous American actor who was born in Denver Colorado. After his birth father died and his mother remarried, the family moved to Michigan where he attended high school and college. Allen graduated from Western Michigan University in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in Television Production.

Funny enough, Tim Allen’s career started when he participated in a comedy night in Detroit off of a dare from his friends. After this performance, he began to gain more popularity. However, in 1978, Allen was arrested on drug charges, which put his career on hold for the two years he was sentenced to spend in jail. He then moved to Los Angeles and began performing regularly at comedy clubs in the area.

Soon Tim Allen had a booming career landing parts in sitcoms and comedies. His first big role was in the sitcom Home Improvement. Allen went on to star in movies as well such as The Santa Clause and as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in Disney’s Toy Story. He has played roles in many other movies and TV series as well as narrating commercials. More often than not, Allen portrays a family man, playing the role of “dad” in many TV families.

Currently, Allen is married to his wife of 15 years, fellow actress Jane Hajduk and is the father of two daughters. He still works in the industry and is getting ready to reboot one of his most well-known roles as Santa Clause in a new Disney Series.

2. Lauren Bush Lauren

Lauren Bush Lauren is a former fashion model and designer and the current CEO of the social impact-driven fashion company FEED. She was born in Denver, Colorado, but later her family moved to Houston, Texas. She began her career by interning on the set of the iconic TV show Friends during her senior year of high school. Her modeling career, however, began in 200 when she was a debutante in ‘le Bal des debutantes’ in Paris. She also worked as an intern with the famous designer Zac Posen.

After that, she signed up with Elite Model Management group. During her time working as a model, she worked for Vogue, Vanity Fair, Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch as well as designers Gai Mattiolo and Isaac Mizrahi. Through her connections in the modeling and fashion industry, Bush met David Lauren. David is the son of Ralph Lauren, a famous fashion designer. Soon the pair began dating and got married in 2011 in Colorado.

In 2007, Lauren Bush decided to branch out and launch a social business called FEED. They sell bags, accessories, and home goods and put the profit they make towards feeding children around the world. Every bag sold has a number on it that represents the number of meals the sale of that bag provides to hungry children. FEED also sells a number of artisan products that helps provide stable sources of income to their artisans.

3. Yvie Oddly

Yvie Oddly (born Jocan Bridges) is a drag queen who became famous in 2019 when she won RuPaul’s Drag Race. She is also a performer, fashion designer, rapper, and recording artist. Her love of drag began at a young age as Yvie said,

“When I was a six-year-old boy playing dress-up in my sister’s tutus and makeup, my parents were like, ‘Take that off.’ And I was like, ‘Why?’ I felt pretty and I’d sleep in a skirt every night”

In high school Oddly participated in gymnastics and musical theatre. She was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome when she was 15 and uses her newfound fame and platform to spread awareness about the disease. She began performing drag in Denver and took on the stage name ‘Yvie Oddly’ as a way to show that she’s “even odder” than everyone else. Because of her limited budget in college, Oddly’s created her own looks out of what she had and focused more on the performance aspect of drag.

More recently, Yvie Oddly toured in the Wrq the World tour as well as performing in Denver’s PrideFest. She also is the star in her reality series titled Yvie Oddly’s Oddities where she turns trash or thrift pieces into drag looks.

4. Joe King

Joe King is a Denver native who became famous for his part as a guitarist, backing vocalist, and songwriter in the well-known band The Fray. Most of the band members are from the Denver area and met through school. Isaac Slade and Joe King are the co-founders of the group. They often had jam sessions that led to them writing songs together. Later, they added Ben Wysocki and Dave Welsh, forming the group we now know as The Fray.

In 2002, the Fray released their first record Movement EP and the following year released Reason EP. With these two records out, the group started to gain traction in the local music scene are were named the best new band in 2004. Their career really took off in 2005 when they released their debut album How to Save a Life. Songs from this album stayed on the top of the charts for 15 consecutive weeks. Over the band’s lifetime, they have released four albums and have over 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Apart from being a part of The Fray, King released a few songs by himself and has also worked with other artists such as Kris Allen. He first married when he was 19, but later got divorced. He met the Vampire Diaries star Candice Accola in 2012 and they got married in 2014, together they have two daughters. However, the couple recently split.

5. Duane Lee Chapman

Duane Lee Chapman is most well known for being a TV personality and for his career as a bounty hunter. Chapman grew up in a religious household as his mother was an Assemblies of God minister. Duane however was unhappy at home and ran away to join an outlaw motorcycle club called the Devils Disciples when he was just 15 years old. Eight years after that, Duane was sentenced to five years in prison on the charge of first-degree murder after waiting in a getaway car while his friend shot someone they were trying to buy weed from.

This conviction ended his first marriage to La Fonda Sue Honeycutt and changed his life around. While serving his sentence, he was inspired to become a bounty hunter after tackling a fellow inmate who was attempting to escape and thus saving him from potentially being shot. After being released he became a bounty hunter and made his claim to fame by capturing Andrew Luster.

After that, he participated in the show Take This Job which led to him getting a show of his own- Dog the Bounty Hunter. The show was later canceled for controversy. A few years later, the show was in a way rebooted but through a different channel and under the name, Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, featuring Duane’s wife at the time Beth.

6. Kyle Freeland

Kyle Freeland is a professional baseball player who was not only born in Denver but currently plays for the Colorado Rockies MLB team as a pitcher. Growing up, Freeland participated in many sports but his favorites were baseball and golf. After graduating high school, Freeland attended the University of Evansville playing for their baseball team.

In 2014, Kyle Freeland joined the minor leagues where he played for three years until he made his major league debut in 2017 with his home team- the Colorado Rockies. Although he had a rough season in 2019, Freeland made a comeback the next year as one of the Rockies most dependable players.

7. Seth Jones

Seth Jones is a professional hockey player. Jones currently plays in the NFL for the Chicago Blackhawks and has played many times internationally as a representative of the United States. Although the hockey star was born in Texas, the star soon moved to Denver, Colorado with his family as his father was asked to play for Denver’s NBA team- the Nuggets. One year, Seth and his brother Justin were gifted hockey skates, and Seth’s love of the sport was born. The brothers started playing and taking skating lessons.

Jones excelled quickly and was playing on traveling hockey teams by the time he turned eight. He went on to join the United States National Team Development Program.

8. Trey Parker

Trey Parker, or Randolph Severn Parker III, was born in Conifer Colorado. He went to school at the University of Colorado in Boulder and met one of his close colleagues, Matt Stone while there. Together they would be a driving force behind a lot of popular satirical media such as South Park, Team America: World Police, That’s My Bush!, How’s Your News?, and The Book of Mormon musical.

David Fincher is not someone you will see on the screens, but you have seen his work! He was born in Denver, Colorado on August 28th, 1962. He is known for his directing abilities, handling anything from commercials to music videos to full-length feature films. He has worked with people like Madonna, Sting, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, and a plethora of other famous figures and entities including Nike, Coca-Cola, and Pepsi. Some of the star films he has directed include Se7en, Fight Club, and the Panic Room.
